Making progress? July 2007

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Kate climbingI chose to start this blog to record my path to a simpler, happier and more productive life, however I seem to have forgotten this in the excitement of starting to write publicly for the first time. I have decided I need more structure in my life to help me work towards where I want to be, plus I suspect this blog would benefit from a bit more structure.

I am intending to review my personal progress at the end of each month and discuss how I’m doing and perhaps ask for help if I’m struggling. I know I already have my posts about the wheel of life, but at the moment I see these as a separate topic, but maybe I will combine in the future. I also have my posts reviewing what happened in the previous month, but I intend to leave them as a review of my blogging progress.

Ratcheting down my weight

Thin KateI did a really good job of losing weight and toning up for my wedding. However in the year and a half since I’ve put on over a stone and I hate to admit it, but I now weigh more than my husband.

Before the wedding I was doing at least five exercise classes a week and loving it. Unfortunately due to work commitments and injuries I didn’t get straight back into the routine after the honeymoon. For the last year I’ve half heartedly said I was going to regain the momentum and lose some of the weight, but I guess there just wasn’t the same motivation.

Mark Foster has suggested an approach to losing weight that works like a ratchet e.g. it only goes one way. It is very simple:

  • weigh yourself every day
  • if your weight is the same as the previous day, do nothing
