July was a strange month for me in terms of writing and communication, I basically didn’t want to do much of either. I’ve written my diary daily for two years, but last month it was a real struggle to keep writing in it each day, it felt like I almost completely dropped out of social media, although the numbers show that is not the case. It also took a lot of effort to write the four blog posts which is the minimum I’m aiming to publish month. I don’t know why I’ve been feeling this way, but looking back at the figures for June suggest it hasn’t come on suddenly.
It is not surprising that the number of responses to my posts reduced as I was writing less, but it is disappointing that in general the average number of responses per post reduced, obviously what I did write was not as interesting. The post with the most comments was Blots stats review – what is the point of them? and the most comments were written by Bev, Jenny L, Over40andaMumtoOne, Melissa. My most commented image on Instagram was my daughter’s loom bands (they do look much prettier in the box than all over the floor).
However, I’m still surprised about how difficult it is too find information on engagement. I have still not found a way to measure replies on Twitter or Google+ without counting them myself. I’m sure there must be a way of doing it on a site like IFTTT but I haven’t found the recipe yet.
What do you do when you don’t want to write? How do you measure engagement? Why do you think it is so hard to find this information?
