#blogitforward is based on the concept of Pay it forward, an idea I first came across through Bookcrossing; through the book Pay it forward* and the activity of Random Acts of Bookcrossing Kindness. Wayfair has picked up on the idea and have been asking bloggers to spread kindness, and to help make a difference they will donate £50 for every blog that participates. Over the past few months I’ve been doing a lot of sorting Continue Reading …

BritMums Environment Round-up Editor
I’m very excited to announce that I’m the editor for the new BritMums Environment Round-up. This means I will be writing a monthly post for the BritMums site to showcase posts on environmental topics from across the BritMums network. If you haven’t heard of BritMums before they are the UK’s largest collective of lifestyle bloggers and digital influencers and organise the UK’s biggest annual blogger and social media conference which I attended in 2014 and Continue Reading …
My only new year resolution
I’ve written before about not being a big fan of making new year resolutions because I think it adds too much pressure and you are more likely to make successful changes if you set a resolution at a time that is best for you and not defined by the calendar. However, I admit I set a few goals last year such as writing at least four blog posts a month (which I achieved for all Continue Reading …
A year of change
The children are in bed and we’re having a quiet evening after our busy Christmas so I’ve got the opportunity to think back on the year. It has certainly been a year of change, with two major changes standing out. Losing weight I lost three stone. I knew it was time to lose some pregnancy weight once I weighed more than my husband, but I have to admit that I hadn’t realised I was that much Continue Reading …
Goodreads #49 – Habits and becoming a morning person
I continue to work on becoming a morning person as I believe it would improve how I feel and how much I achieve, so I’ve been reading a lot on the topic as well as habits; the next step is to move from reading to going to bed earlier! Here are the posts I recommend you read about habits and particularly changing your morning habits. How to be a Morning Person (Single Mother Ahoy!) 21 Continue Reading …
Learning about red wine
If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you may have noticed a few photographs of red wine recently. This is fairly new to me; I used to drink mainly cider (and before that Bacardi Breezers or Wkd). Wine was usually something I only drank when a bottle was already open. However, recently I started noticing I was really enjoying some of red wines, but I didn’t know why or how to replicate the choice Continue Reading …
11 redundancy emotions I’ve been feeling
I was made redundant yesterday. Over the last two weeks I’ve been asked many times how I feel; a very confusing question. It would be very easy to feel bitter and angry, but I don’t want to as I joined the company straight after university so it feels like I’ve grown up there. However, that hasn’t stopped me feeling a mix of emotions. Sad I’m leaving people I’ve worked with for a long time I Continue Reading …
How we get out of the house in the morning
Three mornings a week we aim to have all four of us out of the house as close to 7:20 as we can. But we like to maximise our sleep time (by hitting the snooze button a few times). We got tired of battling and nagging the children to get ready quickly, so we now use a secret weapon – a teasmade. Yes a teasmade, just like your parents or grandparents had when you were young. Continue Reading …
Porridge and the power of #lastingchange
We often hear about the health benefits of eating porridge; filling you up and slowly releasing energy throughout the day and is very popular in our house with my three year old son happy to eat two or three bowls for breakfast, when we give him the chance. However, as well as helping people last through to lunch here, porridge is also helping bring about #lastingchange in Kenya through the Omega Foundation, with support from Continue Reading …
Encouraging learning in the holidays
It is the start of half term in our household (at least for my daughter and husband, I’ll be working next week). Although I know children need a break from school, I worry that the break to the learning routine can undo some of what they’ve learnt. I have nothing to base this on as we’re only in Year 1, but I know if I stop doing something it is harder the next time I try. Continue Reading …
