How to create a pandemic journal

You may be sick of hearing that we’re living in unprecedented times, but also starting to think about keeping a record as you realise how different your life is becoming. There are lots of reasons to keep a journal, particularly now, whether it is to help with your mental health or to keep a record for your children. And no it is not too late to start. It is only too late if you don’t Continue Reading …

Being positive about social distancing – weeks 2 – 4

April 20, 2020 by Kate Davis 6 Comments

We’re four weeks into lockdown in the UK, with at least another three weeks to come of the current restrictions. And we don’t know what reduced restrictions will mean. Will the schools reopen, will businesses like shops reopen? I don’t know the answers, and I don’t think anyone does. It all depends on the numbers or until there is a vaccination.  So I’m not thinking about when this will end. I’m concentrating on the good Continue Reading …

Being positive about social distancing – week 1

March 31, 2020 by Kate Davis Leave a Comment

Coronoa virus, Covid-19, social distancing, shielding, lockdown. You probably hadn’t heard of these words a few months ago, and now they’re impacting our lives in so many ways. And are likely to change our future in ways we couldn’t have imagined a few weeks ago. I started working at home on Tuesday 17th March and my husband two days later. The last day of school was on 20th, and so the next day our stay Continue Reading …

Creating our dream home, 7 years in

February 24, 2020 by Kate Davis Leave a Comment

I love our house and I find it hard to believe we’ve been here just 7 years. I still revel in the extra space we have inside and out compared to our previous house. And we continue making progress, even if most people don’t see it. I get the impression that people will only think we’ve made progress when we remove the lift. And I agree that will be a big day, but we’re making Continue Reading …

How to have a healthier year than me

February 9, 2020 by Kate Davis Leave a Comment

Just over a year ago I decided I wanted to get healthier, so last year was my year of health. Instead of new year resolutions I set a theme to get healthier and each week I added one small habit. Unfortunately, last year was not a healthy year. It started with a sickness illness and ended with a persistent cold that I had for over two months. So it should be easy for you to Continue Reading …

Have you been writing your journal for several years? Are you feeling bored with your journal writing? Do you think you could get more from journaling? I feel this way. Something needs to change; I need to change something

June 29, 2019 by Kate Davis Leave a Comment

I seem to be stuck in a rut of deciding to do a task, failing to do it and feeling miserable about it and m myself. I make my best plans when I can’t do anything about them, usually when I’m driving or showering. And when I can do something I feel so overwhelmed I seem to freeze. What can I do now? What should I do?

I’m stuck in a rut of not doing anything towards achieving what I want. This is not how I want to feel or live my life, so how do I change? How do I take back control?

Do it scared by Ruth Soukup

I recommend the book Do It Scared; unless of course you never feel scared. However I suspect everyone who reads this will feels fear sometime. It has given me the words to talk about my fear. So I now recognise when I feel scared which makes it easier to deal with it. I would love you to discover your fear doesn’t need to stop you because you can “do it scared”.

Welcome

I'm a working mum of two children, and I believe everything benefits from being simpler. Although I'm not as good as I'd like at achieving simplification. I often get caught up on writing lists or planning the most efficient method of achieving things instead. Read More…
