While the kids are away

We are fortunate to have great support from my in-laws and they frequently help out with childcare during the school holidays. When the kids are away it gives us the opportunity to have calmer days, as well as: catching up on sleep eating meals they don’t enjoy maybe treating ourselves with a trip to the cinema not having to leave work in a rush to pick the kids up However, over the recent holiday we Continue Reading …

Trying my first Big Mac

I recently tried my first Big Mac. Yes really, I’m going to be 40 soon and I’ve never had a Big Mac. In fact, I had to ask people to explain what a Big Mac was! My McDonald’s history My first McDonald’s memory was getting a burger on holiday in America, when I was about 3. I remember enjoying it, until I got to the gherkin! I wasn’t willing to eat them after that so the Continue Reading …

Not only would I be able to try some new wines but I would get expert guidance with it as well. The Royal Horseguards Hotel The Royal Horseguards is a five star hotel near Westminster overlooking the Continue Reading …

September 16, 2013 by Kate Davis 4 Comments

Studland bay  is located between Swanage and Poole (via a chain ferry), and with its beautiful sandy beaches and good facilities everyone from children to naturists will be happy. As the cooler weather comes in I thought I’d revisit some of the summer holidays we’ve spent at Studland beach. My husband and his family introduced me to the beach as they’ve been going there since before ED was born. It is a beautiful beach and now Continue Reading …

Oceanarium: is Bournemouth aquarium child friendly?

August 20, 2013 by Kate Davis 4 Comments

As we take most of our holidays in the UK, on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, we know you take a risk with the weather. We had better weather than forecast at the beginning of August, but still had some foggy and rainy days to occupy the children. The first of these I took the children to Oceanarium, the aquarium in Bournemouth. I have mixed views on whether the aquarium is child friendly, although Continue Reading …

Family day out at Woodcote Rally

July 22, 2013 by Kate Davis Leave a Comment

Since moving house and starting to commute through lots of villages I’ve noticed how many village fairs, fetes and festivals there are. The village I grew up in had an annual fair called the Faffen Fuffen (still love the name), but I haven’t been to many fairs since I moved to university, so  we decided to go to the Woodcote Rally, near the Oxfordshire – Berkshire border, to help them celebrate their 50th anniversary on Continue Reading …

Welcome

I'm a working mum of two children, and I believe everything benefits from being simpler. Although I'm not as good as I'd like at achieving simplification. I often get caught up on writing lists or planning the most efficient method of achieving things instead. Read More…
