Its nice to know you are individual. I was lucky through school because it was rare that I was in a class with another Kate. This meant I was unique and I didn’t need to go by my surname as well as my first name. Of course in this internet era, your name in the classroom or workplace is only part of the problem, there is the problem with how unique are you on the internet.
A few years ago I didn’t have many expectations of appearing high in a Google search because the majority of my online activity used nicknames. However a conversation at work encouraged me to do a search, and I was the first return on www.google.co.uk due to an event I ‘d spoken at for work.
Before getting married I discussed whether to take my husband’s name, I joked I would lose my high google appearance, particularly as there were twice as many returns for Kate Davis as my maiden name.
I did a google.com search at the weekend and I am on the first page, in face I’m the seventh return. This time it was all down to me and not work; in fact it is down to this blog. Now the challenge is for me to get to the first return. I’m new to search engine optimisation so any tips would be gratefully received.
