Do it scared by Ruth Soukup

I recommend the book Do It Scared; unless of course you never feel scared. However I suspect everyone who reads this will feels fear sometime. It has given me the words to talk about my fear. So I now recognise when I feel scared which makes it easier to deal with it. I would love you to discover your fear doesn’t need to stop you because you can “do it scared”.

Belong by Radha Agrawal book review

Belong by Radha Agrawal is about connecting with people by joining and building communities. The premise is we all feel happier when we are connected to other people. In fact, Radha says “having weak social ties is as harmful to our health as being an alcoholic, and twice as harmful as obesity” – scary. The aim of the book is for you to become “aware of who you are and intentional about what you want Continue Reading …

Happiness Hacks Review by Alex Palmer

Happiness Hacks* brings together different research on happiness. The research is grouped with one theme per chapter e.g. friendship, health, love. It is summarized in short sections (for example one or two paragraphs) often followed by a suggested action. Why I wanted to read it I was offered an electronic advanced copy of this book. I was interested to read it as I’ve been thinking about my happiness over the last few years. I was Continue Reading …

In Bloom by Kayla Aimee review

In Bloom is a collection of stories from Kayla’s life from childhood through to motherhood about feelings of insecurities and inadequacies. The stories are grouped into themes such as rejection, fear and boys, and are very vulnerable at times touching on topics that most of us probably hide away inside. Why I wanted to read In Bloom I first came across Kayla through a blogging course and didn’t know anything about her life. But when Continue Reading …

Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking – Susan Cain Review

Quiet By Susan Cain Book Review

I’ve always classed myself as an extrovert so I read Quiet by Susan Cain* to learn more about my introverted husband and one of my children who I suspected was introverted. As a bonus, I now know I’m actually partly introverted and may have picked the wrong child as introverted.   What does introvert mean? The term introvert is often used instead of shy, but they mean different things, and being one doesn’t mean you Continue Reading …

The Road Less Travelled – M Scott Peck Review

January 29, 2017 by Kate Davis 2 Comments

The Road Less Travelled* is a book I’ve wanted to read for years, not for any reason other than I remember people talking about it when I was a child, meaning I didn’t actually know what it was about. The book was originally published in 1978, becoming a bestseller in 1984, and is based on M. Scott Peck’s experience as a psychotherapist, and discusses love, traditional values and spiritual growth. I was intrigued enough by Continue Reading …
