P366 – February 2016

June 30, 2016 by Kate Davis Leave a Comment

february p366 featured

I’ve told you before that I take a photograph ever day and want to produce a digital scrapbook layout for each week of the year and have them printed in a book. However, I’m not doing well at keeping up to date with my layouts so I’ve recently just finished the February layouts. The task that tends to slow me down is sorting through the photographs because it isn’t always easy to choose just one picture Continue Reading …

P366 – January 2016

February 28, 2016 by Kate Davis Leave a Comment

January 2016

I love the idea of using the a photograph a day as a way to record memories. I feel it compliments my written diary as I often take photos of events, objects or people that I don’t mention in my diary. My aim to produce a digital scrapbook layout for each week of the year and have them printed in a book. This is the fourth year I’ve done Project P365 (or P366 this year) and Continue Reading …

April-2015-thumbnail

April seems a long time ago, although my pictures make me think maybe we had better weather then now in August. Here’s what we were doing in April: spent Easter on the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset Started planting our Cosmos seedlings in the garden (it is strange seeing them this small because they are taking over the flowerbeds now) Children enjoyed making mud pies M went to his first birthday party without his big sister I went Continue Reading …

A festive day in my life #1day12pics December 2014

December 24, 2014 by Kate Davis Leave a Comment

I know it is a bit late to be posting my #1day12pics photos from the beginning of the month, but they have a festive theme and I’m feeling festive after a attending a Christingle service and watching my second Christmas film of the evening. Here are my pictures from the first Saturday in December.   10am – finding out what’s inside the Lego advent calendar 11am – decorating the Christmas wrapping paper 12am – choosing the Christmas Continue Reading …

A day in my life #1day12pics November 2014

November 2, 2014 by Kate Davis 1 Comment

Yesterday I discovered that #1day12pics is an interesting exercise to notice the similarities and differences between days. I enjoyed participating last month, but didn’t think I’d join in very often because I wasn’t sure how often the first Saturday of the month would vary. From a G+ conversation other people obviously think the same and would prefer to do it on a different day of the week each month; but it appears I was wrong. Continue Reading …

A day in my life #1day12pics October 2014

October 5, 2014 by Kate Davis 4 Comments

Yesterday I took part in my first #1day12pics where you take a picture roughly every hour for 12 hours, sharing the pictures on Instagram and Twitter. This is something I’ve wanted to do since reading Nice Cup of Tea’s post back in 2011 when she took pictures every 30 minutes. I had thought about doing it a couple of times a year but somehow it just never happened. However, when I read about #1day12pics on Continue Reading …

Is technology convergence good or bad?

July 31, 2014 by Kate Davis Leave a Comment

Technology advances every month offering new products and, through technology convergence we’re offered products that combine more and more features into one product. However do these advanced products actually benefit us or are they marketing gimmicks to tempt us to purchase products more often? Contents of my handbag Two things occurred recently that made me think about the technology I carry in my hanadbag, firstly emptying my bag and realising how many gadgets I carry Continue Reading …

Photo scavenger hunt to teach photography tips for children

May 25, 2014 by Kate Davis 12 Comments

A few years ago my now five year old daughter showed an interest in taking photographs. Obviously as I love taking photographs I was keen to encourage this, but not with my camera! So Grandpa gave her a children’s digital camera for Christmas and we encouraged her to just take pictures and didn’t even think about learning suitable photography tips for children. She enjoyed the freedom and even joined me in starting Project 52 last Continue Reading …

44 ideas to capture and share memories

August 5, 2013 by Kate Davis Leave a Comment

Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about how to capture memories of my children. B is starting school soon, a real milestone, and I’m concerned I’m not capturing as many of M; second child syndrome! As well as capturing memories, I also want to share them so other people can enjoy them. I’ve been collecting ideas for several months and these are my favourite: Print or develop photographs and put them in albums Use digital photographs Continue Reading …

February 2013 review in pictures (Project 52)

May 10, 2013 by Kate Davis Leave a Comment

It has taken a while, but I’ve finished my layouts for February. Unfortunately because of our house move and then getting a chest infection meant I completely ignored our photograph process and let them get out of control; they were on several cameras and on different computers. It took until the middle of March for me to get them in the same place. It is great to have captured some of the small parts of Continue Reading …

Welcome

I'm a working mum of two children, and I believe everything benefits from being simpler. Although I'm not as good as I'd like at achieving simplification. I often get caught up on writing lists or planning the most efficient method of achieving things instead. Read More…
