Last year, December especially, was brilliant for me as a blogger, and I’m hoping it is the starting point for even greater things in 2016. Highlights include: being invited to events like Food photography workshop with Nikon and Wine tasting at Royal Horseguards creating a local blogging group Oxfordshire Bloggers and meeting great local bloggers spinning off my list of blog events onto its own site Blog Events UK introducing a newsletter which has over 80 subscribers traffic explosion Continue Reading …
Blog stats – October 2014
It is strange to look back on my stats for October when I’m at the end of November which has been a tough blogging month for me. I’ve had lots of ideas about posts, but my time has been spent elsewhere. I remember reading once a comment along the lines that the gaps in diaries are when people live life instead of write about it, and maybe that is where I’ve been over the last four Continue Reading …
Blog stats – September 2014
Is this blog moving in the right direction? I think it is staying stationary or maybe even moving backwards especially if you look at the subscriber number (although that could be an issue with Feedburner), plus the comments are continuing to reduce. I think I’m suffering from not knowing where I want to go with this blog, although I’m starting to get a clearer idea. I mentioned a few posts ago that I’m on a Continue Reading …
Blog stats review – July 2014
July was a strange month for me in terms of writing and communication, I basically didn’t want to do much of either. I’ve written my diary daily for two years, but last month it was a real struggle to keep writing in it each day, it felt like I almost completely dropped out of social media, although the numbers show that is not the case. It also took a lot of effort to write the Continue Reading …
Blog stats review – what is the point of them?
Comments, followers, visits, likes, retweets; there are many numbers bloggers can use to track progress, but is it actually worth the time to collect and review blog stats? Being a blogger these days can mean more than just writing blog posts; many bloggers, like myself, use social media to help promote posts, engage with readers and help build relationships beyond blog comments. However, each post on social media is time taken away from other activities, Continue Reading …
Stats: March 2014
I won a competition in March with my post I’m scared of the cloud and I’m currently waiting for the arrival of my new tablet. When it arrives there is likely to be long discussions about who gets my old one; my husband or my 2 year old who appears to be much more interested them! I recently joined Instagram because I got tired of trying to upload pictures to using the Twitter app on my phone. I love the Continue Reading …
Stats: January 2014
I’m starting this year as I mean to continue so here are my blog stats for January; even though I’ve only just done my review of 2013. I admit I found it difficult to write during January, so I’m pleased I managed four posts. And it is not really a surprise that the majority of the most read posts are the same as usual (going back to 2007 and 2010). My list of top commentators Continue Reading …
Stats: October 2013
A busy real life has led to a fairly boring blog life. My post I’ve forgotten how to be productive also explains why I’ve been finding it difficult to write recently. To be honest, I’m pleased I managed seven posts, but most of them have been template posts which I think are interesting when mixed with other posts, but not when that is all that is on my blog, this is reflected in the most read Continue Reading …
Stats: September 2013
An interesting month because it feels like everything has been difficult and really hard work to accomplish anything. I didn’t think I’d done much writing, so I’m pleased to see I wrote 10 posts, my 2nd highest number of posts this year. My largest number of referrals this month came from Peonies and Polaroids after I won a family photo shoot (I had no idea winning a competition would lead to an increase in visitors). Continue Reading …
Stats: August 2013
I was very focussed in August and published double the number of posts in July. My goal at the start of the year was to publish one post a month and I’m well ahead of schedule now. I hope I’ve created some habits that mean I’ll retain this level of posting. However, I’ve seen my number of subscribers fall significantly (by about a third), is this a result of the closure of Google Reader? Number Continue Reading …
