As a child I really wanted curly hair and as I had heavy straight hair, that meant getting my hair permed (it was the 90s). I really wanted a perm and loved looking through hair books to decide what type – corkscrew. But at the age of 13 I wasn’t allowed one. On this day 25 years ago, I was obviously in the midst of wanting a perm and must have been asking lots of people’s opinion, and it appears I was not happy with their answers, which I assume were not to get one, so kept asking more people.
What do you think, should I have got a perm?
I’m going to let you into a secret. I did get a perm, but a few year’s later, so some photographs to look forward to seeing! All these year’s later I still want curly hair, not all the time, and not really curly but I’d love to know how to do that straight hair that twists slightly and always falls into position, just like the women on TV. Where do you learn how to do that?
What hairstyle did you want as a child? Did you get it and did it live up to your expectations?
Never had a perm, but for most of secondary school I had virtually a short back and sides.. Not sure if it’ll work on your thick hair, but semi dry, curling spray/or light mousse, and twist hair up in sections Bjork style. Let it dry the rest, then let out – it’s a bit random and probably more wavy but works on my fine hair although does drop out (because nothing lasts on my hair).
