- available in the UK
- have note taking functionality
- be able to borrow ebooks from the library
- be able to share ebooks with my husband (if he gets a device in the future)
I love having an ebook reader much more than I’d expected. I thought I’d miss holding a book, but it is so easy to read the screen and turn the pages; plus the inbuilt dictionary accessible by simply tapping a word is extending my vocabulary. As I tend to have mixed reading taste it enables me to carry many more books than I could ever read for no extra space, enabling me to make a choice based on my mood at a specific time as opposed to what books I have available.
The touch screen makes it quick and easy to navigate. I’ve also found the note taking function useful when I’m reading some non fiction books.
The Sony devices support more file formats than the Kindle. Although I’m not too bothered about having lots of formats, the fact that Kindle does not support epub files was a big issue for me. I can’t help but be suspicious of a company who ignores an international standard to use their version; I wonder where this will end up in the future.
